Scenes from Ocean City (Us)
Just returned from a week at the beach, where there were morning sunrise bike rides and daily trips to get ice cream. There was Rock Band, there was a pirate cruise, there was shell collecting, and coffee/reading/knitting on the porch of course. There were ferris wheels and arcades and surreys and cousins and crafts and lots and lots of sand. And Kev and I had a night out and a delicious meal featuring really good cheese, shrimp, and grits. GRITS!
A great time was had by all.

Chicken Payback
This summer, Daphne and I have been doing sneaky Random Acts of Kindness. Nothing big, just little stuff like leaving a quarter for someone to find in a gumball machine or holding doors for people. Our most "expensive" RAK was a $5 chick fil a gift card, which we bought and then left in a shoe cubby in the play area with a little "have a nice day" note. Daphne gets really excited about these secret missions, and I think it's a nice lesson. So anyway, today we were running errands, and I went through the chick fil a drive-through to get Daphne some chicken minis because she didn't have any breakfast, and when we got up to the window, the cashier lady said that the person in front of us had paid for our food (which strangely was $5 and some change). Chicken Payback! Daphne was so excited. She said "When you are kind, then someone will be kind back!" I didn't have the heart to tell her that's not always true.
She also recently told me she wants to be just like Mister Rogers because he is the kindest person ever. I will remind her of this next time she rolls her eyes or growls at me.
Anyway, I was happy because this little story reminded me of one of my favorite songs (Chicken Payback by the Bees), so I youTubed it and put it on here just for you! Consider it my RAK for the day. So turn it up and dance around in your kitchen (or cubicle) for the next 4 minutes. You'll be glad you did.

Tennessee WIP - Part 1 (Me)
I spent the majority of last week sitting on the balcony of our cabin in the Smoky Mountains, looking at this view (the mountains are actually smoky!), reading, knitting:
crocheting:
and drinking coffee:
I could have spent the entire trip sitting on that balcony, but I did get up occasionally. A couple of highlights:
A hike to Laurel Falls in the park with my brother and cousins:
And, the zip line. Heck yeah.
You can't really tell from this picture, but I was WAY up high. And I'm scared of heights. But I wasn't scared of this. It was the most fun thing I've done in a long time. I am definitely a fan of the mild adventure.
You can't tell from ANY of these pictures, but there were 19 other people in the cabin with me. Pictures of some of them coming soon. It was a great trip and I can't wait to do it again next year.

Packed
I have four magazines, some yarn and needles and hooks, and two new books loaded on my Kindle. My eye shot is over. Time for a vacation.
PS (Kev will still be here, so don't get any big ideas about robbing my house while I'm away).

The WIP
It was a colorful weekend. Friday night, I went to a Mom's Night In with friends...a great night with great people, and I even won a couple of games of pool (thanks to good teammates!). Thanks to Kev for watching Daphne.
Saturday, Daphne went to Manassas, and Kev and I went to the movies. We saw the Avengers (surprisingly good...Robert Downey Jr. is awesome), and had dinner at Lightfoot (Mushroom Strudel oh yeah!), and did some recording. Thanks to G-Ma and G-Pa and Uncle Jeff for watching Daphne.
It was a very fiddle and yarn intensive weekend, and I can't complain about that. I am in a Bright Color Phase. Can you tell?
Tomorrow is my (hopefully last) shot in the eyeball. Then, I am heading into the mountains for a few days. Kev is staying behind to make beer and do some more recording. Perhaps a new PPHPHB CD is in the works!
I am going with my mom, Jeff, and Daphne to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee (home of Dollywood!) to stay in a giant cabin in the Smoky Mountains with a bunch of my relatives. I intend to sit and read and knit and look at mountains and not be hot. And maybe do a zip line. So, stay tuned for Adventures from Tennessee! See you next week!
