Poor Don Music

Eventually got banned from Sesame Street because people were afraid children would mimic him and bang their heads senselessly on pianos. I guess no one worried about children choking while shoving cookies down their throats trying to be like Cookie Monster. Don Music sketches were funny. Did Sesame Street jump the shark when Elmo arrived?

PS Don Music is basically Guy Smiley with glasses and crazy composer hair.

Yes, Sesame Street lost it's edge when it began devoting too much time to Elmo.

I LOVED Don Music! I am old school Sesame Street (pre-Elmo and when nobody saw Snuffy but Big Bird) but have been kind of watching it again now that I have my own little one. I could have sworn I heard ol' Don a few weeks ago from the kitchen as I was messing with the coffee pot - the Mary Had a Little Lamb bit. Are you sure he's been banished?

I think they just stopped making new ones.

And sadly, ashley, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Now I will be stuck on that song all day.

Since when could anyone else see Snuffy? I always remeber him sneaking off when anyone else came along. Did this change?

Why does cool stuff always have to go away because of dumb kids? Don Music, lawn darts. I mean, come on!

Do they still do the "Who are the people in your neighborhood?" bit?

Have a 1yo daughter; will be watching this stuff soon, I suppose... ;)

Next trip to the US, need to pick up some Mr. Rogers DVDs (if they exist!). He's unknown around here.
